What content schedulers are there?

Ever wonder what schedulers are out there and what they might be good for?

First, I’ll share my favourite, and then a quick rundown of the alternatives ...

I recommend:

Metricool*. I’ve used a lot of schedulers over the last 12 years, having worked with a variety of clients and industries. Many have been effective in delivering a good service, reliable posting, and have proven to be useful. Essential in fact. Planoly, Later, Buffer, Meet Edgar, along with Facebook Business Suite have all had a positive impact on the way I’ve managed social media accounts in the past.

However, Metricool has proven to be by far the best option. It covers all the platforms you need, offers a free plan if you only have one brand. Some of the features that I love are:

🟡 The free plan is perfect for solo brands, and if you manage more than one, you can manage up to five for only $12 per month, so it is cheaper than many other schedulers.

🟡 The ability to set up auto lists that publish your content and cycle through when it is done. Perfect for your evergreen content, and increases the amount of social content you post, without increasing workload.

🟡 Easy to view calendar where you can separate brands, so it’s a clear visual map of the content going out.

🟡 You can schedule Reels and TikToks, plus Instagram stories. Although this is currently published via a push notification, the new addition of scheduling reels and TikToks is super helpful.

🟡 It has robust analytics and allows you to download full data reports, but you can also set it to email you the report monthly automatically.

🟡 You can schedule to Google My Business, allowing companies to stay relevant in Google searches.

Is Metricool one of the best schedulers around? In my opinion, yes.

It is great for solo business owners, but also social media managers that need multi-brand functionality.

The only other scheduler that is more robust and is a good option for larger corporations with a substantial budget would be Sprout Social. But with that coming in at $99 per month for 5 brands, unless you have a budget to allow for it, I’d recommend starting with Metricool.

But there are of course, lots of other options if you find Metricool isn’t a good fit. Here are some alternatives with a little more information about them to help guide you to the alternative that might be right for you.

The alternatives:

HOOTSUITE – free and subscription. Variety of platforms. Great for sharing what times are optimum for posting, but can feel a little clunky when it displays all you brand posts.

KONTENTINO - multi-platform, approval system, plus analysis report. Perfect for social media managers.

MEET EDGAR - FB, FB groups, Instagram Twitter, LinkedIn. Level of automation in posting. Best feature: the ability to repost automatically from a library of content you create. Perfect for evergreen content.

SMARTERQUEUE- Really strong alternative to Meet Edgar.

ONLYPULT – Subscription. allows for drafts.

COSCHEDULE – great for teams to access. Plan workflow as well as scheduling.

BUFFER – free up to 3 accounts. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest (if Instagram is video or wrong size image you get a push notification to post) Only allows 10 stacked posts.

LOOMLY – FB, Pinterest, IG, Twitter, LinkedIn.

PLANOLY – Instagram only. Free for 30 posts a month, and subscription. Great for visually laying out your feed. Auto schedule is available. Paid plans will post to Instagram stories.

AGORAPULSE - Inbox style messages and comments, team approval workflow, edit each post for different platforms, great built-in reporting, they are always adding new features, they listen to their customers.

LATER - Especially Instagram, but also Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter. Free for 30 posts a month, and subscription. Re-posting available so great for evergreen content. Great for visually laying out your feed. Auto schedule is available. Paid plans will post to Instagram stories. Good Instagram analytics.

SOCIAL REPORT -Supports every single platform, including IG feed, search agents, powerful analytics, one-stop-shop can connect up to 50 profiles to each account.

PLANAGRAM – Instagram only. Schedule, photos and videos.

PLANABLE - Great and simple, easy for clients to approve content, but users report some drawbacks.

TAILWIND – Pinterest and Instagram. Industry-standard for Pinterest marketing.

GRUM – mixed reputation of late, according to some users.

ZOHO SOCIAL - subscription. multiple channels, schedule posts, monitor keywords.

CONTENTCAL.io free and subscription. Lots of platforms, allows drafts, approval process, and a holding bay for incomplete thoughts/post ideas. Calendar view is super helpful.

SPROUT SOCIAL - Subscription, Great system, but the cost is higher than other options.

CONTENT STUDIO - Subscription-based. Posts to FB, Twitter, Pinterest & LinkedIn. Also can post to blog on certain platforms. Has post design as well.

RECURPOST - Good alternative to Smarter Queue. There is a free option for three profiles or less. Possibly no direct link to IG.

PROMO REPUBLIC - Appears promising, but with limitations. Customer care is lacking according to some users.

SOCIAL BEE. Has the auto repost feature that Meet Edgar has. Covers many platforms.

SOCIAL PILOT - Subscription, designed for teams, up to 200 accounts, analysis, team inbox.

FACEBOOK CREATOR STUDIO - Meta’s own Facebook and Instagram. Currently free. The interface is clunky, but with lots of potential for it to be better.

META BUSINESS SUITE- Perfect for scheduling Instagram and Facebook stories.

CANVA- Canva now offers scheduling straight from the program. It’s a new addition.
